FJD Trion Reality Capture

Turn site planning into autonomous execution

FJD Trion Field robotics connects digital knowledge of a site with machines that can act on it. Instead of guiding equipment through every metre of work, teams capture the operating area, define the task and give the robot a plan it can follow.

The result is a repeatable way to automate outdoor work. Robots can execute planned routes, maintain consistent operating standards and handle recurring tasks while teams supervise progress and focus on the wider site.

Close the gap between the site and every decision that follows

Physical conditions are difficult to measure, document and share, especially when projects are complex, teams are smaller and rework is not an option.

FJD Trion Reality Capture combines LiDAR, cameras, thermal imaging, SLAM and precise positioning to capture sites as they are, then turns that information into 2D drawings, 3D models and different types of reports your team can act on.

Built for professionals who rely on accurate site data

For people whose work depends on understanding real-world conditions, complete and measurable site data is the foundation of a reliable result.

How the physical world becomes usable digital intelligence

A connected capture-to-deliver workflow keeps field conditions, measurements and project outputs moving together.

Step 1 : Capture

Record buildings, rooms, infrastructure, industrial assets, roads, tunnels, terrain, forests, stockpiles, accident scenes and entire urban areas. Collect 3D geometry, panoramic imagery, thermal data or high-resolution aerial images by walking, driving, flying or scanning from a fixed position.

Step 2: Position

Connect scans and survey observations to the project coordinate system. Establish control points, collect precise positions, georeference datasets and align field information with existing CAD, GIS or survey records.

Step 3 : Process

Register, clean, merge, colourise and organise point clouds. Review the site, remove unwanted data, take measurements, create sections, calculate volumes and compare captured conditions without returning to the field.

Step 4: Deliver

Turn processed data into the output the job requires: a BIM model, 3D model, CAD drawing, city-scale model, orthophoto, digital terrain model, volume calculation, cross-section, GIS dataset, inspection report or complete as-built record.

What changes when reality becomes usable data

Complete capture gives teams more information to work from, reduces repeated fieldwork and shortens the path from the site to a finished deliverable.

Up to 50% Faster Scan-to-CAD

Draft from a complete point cloud instead of rebuilding site conditions through repeated manual measurements.

Over 80% More Efficient Forestry Measurement

Capture terrain and tree data across a larger area in one field pass, with less manual measurement between individual points.

Up to 60% Lower Scan-to-BIM Costs

Reduce site revisits and manual survey work by capturing the measurable context needed before modelling begins.

Up to 6× Faster Volume Calculation

Calculate stockpile and terrain volumes directly from captured 3D data instead of relying on repeated point-by-point measurement.

Figures are based on selected FJD Trion workflow comparisons and customer applications. Results vary by site size, field conditions, required accuracy, deliverable complexity, system configuration, processing settings and operator experience.

Frequently asked questions

Learn how FJD Trion Reality Capture combines 3D scanning, aerial imaging, GNSS positioning and processing software to turn physical environments into point clouds, maps, models, measurements and professional deliverables.

Professional reality capture records the measurable geometry, position and visual condition of a physical environment. The captured data is then processed into point clouds, maps, models, drawings, measurements and reports.

Depending on the system, teams can collect 3D LiDAR data, panoramic imagery, thermal information, precise GNSS positions and high-resolution nadir or oblique aerial images.

Ground scanners capture buildings, assets, terrain and other environments from close range. Aerial systems cover wider areas from above, making them suitable for urban mapping and large-scale modelling. The resulting datasets can contribute to the same processing and delivery workflow.

GNSS connects captured information to real-world coordinates. This allows scan, survey and aerial data to align with existing CAD, GIS, mapping and project coordinate systems.

Outputs can include point clouds, CAD drawings, BIM models, textured 3D models, city-scale models, orthophotos, digital terrain models, cross-sections, volume calculations, GIS datasets, inspection reports and as-built documentation.

P2 supports portable everyday scanning, P2 Vision+ adds thermal context, X1 is designed for enterprise-grade capture, S2 Series covers large and complex sites, and T1 combines handheld mobility with tripod precision.

O1 captures nadir and oblique aerial imagery for detailed urban 3D modelling. AM150A provides high-resolution medium-format imagery for aerial mapping, inspection and modelling workflows.

Model supports professional processing, analysis, modelling and deliverable creation. Model Web brings browser-based processing, registration, review and collaboration to teams working across different locations and devices.

Start with the environment, required coverage, positioning accuracy and final deliverable. Then select the ground or aerial capture method, GNSS setup and processing software that support those requirements.
